Most romantic songs of all time

18.01.2019

What makes a song one of the most romantic songs ever? Is it a love declaration or the struggles of a one way love? Love isn’t though only butterflies in your stomach or hearts skipping a heartbeat: there’s fire, jealousy, betray, obsession and of course rivers of tears and tones of broke hearts. Is all this still part of a romance? Maybe a ‘Bad Romance’, but we really think a proper list of the most romantic songs of all time should include the highs as well as the lows of any real love story.

Check out the most romantic love songs!

At Last, Etta James

In the 1960 there was Etta James who with her romantic song lyrics was able to define what love should really be, regardless of what era you live in:

My lonely days are over and life is like a song

Written by Mack Gordon and Harry Warren 20 years earlier, At Last was later inducted in the Grammy Hall of Fame in 1999.

Love Me Do, The Beatles

Uncomplicated and genuine love, this is what The Fab 4 were able to say about love in one of their many romantic love songs, but considering Love Me Do was their debut single back in 1962 and basically led their way to becoming the most famous band in the world of all time, it definitely had to appear amongst the most romantic songs ever made.

Love, love me do
You know I love you
I’ll always be true

Candle in the Wind, Elton John

Probably his most famous song, Candle in the Wind is available to listen on Sir Elton John’s Love Songs compilation, which of course features other tremendous successes such as ‘Blue Eyes’, ‘The One’ and Don’t Let The Sun Go Down On Me [Live with George Michael].

She’s The One, Robbie Williams

The figure skating video Robbie Williams released back in 2011 perfectly supports his most romantic song lyrics and represents one of the most significant moments in his career as a singer. The hit is actually a cover of a song by World Party.

Fallin’, Alicia Keys

Her soulful voice and talent at the piano have made of Fallin’ one of the most romantic songs of all time: Alicia Keys came out with her debut studio album which included the song back in 2001 and with that she won 3 Grammy Awards as well as being nominated Record Song of the Year in 2002.

Sometimes you make me blue
Sometimes I feel good
At times I feel used
Lovin’ you darlin’
Makes me so confused

This Love, Maroon 5

We all fell for Adam Levin’s romantic song lyrics:

I tried my best to feed her appetite
Keep her coming every night
So hard to keep her satisfied

He once said about the lyrics as being erotic as well as romantic, and we all see why. This Love was released in 2002 with their debut album and it is based on the actual break-up between him and an ex-girlfriend.

Crazy in Love, Beyonce and Jay Z

This dance love song has been named as one of the best songs of the 21st century: it doesn’t matter where, when or who you are with, just the thought of Beyonce’s choreography makes you want to jump out of your chair. Built in a hip hop beat, it is everything and everything you’ll ever want love to be like.

Hello, Adele

At least I can say that I’ve tried
To tell you I’m sorry
For breaking your heart
But it don’t matter, it clearly
Doesn’t tear you apart anymore

The touch of your hand
I want your leather studded kiss in the sand
