Time has come for us to look ahead to a 2019 and explore some of the best upcoming movies for the new year. We have gathered up the ones we believe are going to be the most anticipated by the public and by D360 viewers.

Glass

Director: M. Night Shyamalan
Cast: James McAvoy, Samuel L. Jackson, and Bruce Willis
Opening date: January 18, 2019

Wasn’t it a sort of cliffhanger the cameo we saw at the end of 2016 Split? The shocker appearance of Bruce Willis might actually be the biggest clue to director M.Night Shyamalan’s sequel of psychological thriller/sci-fi movie starring McAvoy.

Yup, Bruce Willis will be in it of course and Glass will then come as Split and Unbreakable Sequel. Make sure you have watched them both.

Godzilla: King of The Monsters

Monarch, the cryptozoological agency which has been fighting against god-sized monsters: one of them is the great Godzilla and in this installment of the saga coming up in 2019, the creature will have to face Mothra, Rodan and the three-headed Ghidorah.

X-Men: Dark Phoenix

Tarantino and that cast. What else do you need to know to convince you this might be one of the best upcoming movies of 2019? It’s 1969 and a TV actor and his stunt take on a mission to break it in the film industry.

One of the greatest villains of all time is going to have his own dedicated movie: despite the rumours heard a few months back of a Jared Leto interpreting the Joker after his performance in the role in Suicide Squad, the part has been given to Joaquin Phoenix. We have had a first look at how this Joker is going to be: what do you think of it? Creepy enough?

Aladdin

The Woman in The Window

Based on the eponymous book by A.J. Finn, this is one of the most anticipated thrillers coming up in 2019. The story revolves around a woman who lives alone in New York: she begins to spy on her neighbours and witnesses a brutal act of violence.

Alita: Battle Angel

This cyberpunk action movie and one of the best upcoming movies in 2019 is the story of a disembodied “core” in the form of a girl who awakens with amnesia in a post-apocalyptic world destroyed by a technological fall. Follow her on her journey to discover herself and how she battles to change the world. Alita: Battle Angel is an adaptation of Yukito Kishiro’s manga, Battle Angel Alita.

Jordan Peele, who also directed ‘Get Out’, directs this upcoming psychological thriller and it centred on a family who goes on holiday to ease tension and spend times with their friends and their confrontation with a group of doppelgangers. This upcoming movie also stars Lupita Nyong’o, Winston Duke from Marvel’s Black Panther. In terms of upcoming horror movies, this is one to watch out for.

Shazam!

One of the best upcoming movies in 2019 is DC comic movie Shazam! It is the story of Billy, a 14- year old streetwise orphan who transforms into a superhero when he yells the word –SHAZAM! Does Billy have what it takes to stop the villain Dr Thaddeus Sivana from wielding powers of his own?

Avengers: Endgame

Upcoming Marvel movies always excite us, and as of December 2018, Avengers: Endgame was named the second most anticipated 2019 movie by IMDb, as well as the most anticipated blockbuster of 2019 by Fandango. All we can say right now is thank you Marvel studios for not making us wait too long for the follow up of 2018’s Avengers: Infinity war. This is definitely one of the best upcoming movies in 2019

Men in Black: International

Men in Black: International, also known as MIB 4 is coming 7 years after Men in Black 3 was released in 2012. We can’t wait to follow agent M and agent H as they use high tech weaponry to fight off sinister aliens. We must say though, that we will miss Will Smith’s Agent J and Tommy Lee Jones’s Agent K characters.
