Vegan Fashion Week in Los Angeles

17.01.2019

It has finally happened, after the rise of stylish yet ethical fashion labels, the idea of gathering the best ones on an international runway to showcase the next collections in an astounding show is here. Check out what to expect from Los Angeles Vegan Fashion Week 2019.

When, what, where

Happening on a four-day event from February 1st, the debut of the events is set out to unfold at the Natural History Museum of Los Angeles and it will be focused on the theme ‘Facing our Time’, a discussion on how climate change is affecting our lives under a scientifically, artistic and of course, nature’s point of view.

The opening night will see a talk by climate scientist and Nobel Peace Prize laureate Robert Lempert and the first vegan fashion show scheduled for the week of events.

On show as well…

Not only fashion, the doors are open to enter an entire vegan world thanks to the possibility for visitors to explore California Market Center, where there will be a show of animal-free pieces on the runway as well as the chance to experience ethical fashion, food and beauty in the dedicated vegan lounge.

An idea of…

French Fashion stylist Emmanuelle Rienda first partnered with PETA and Fashion Revolution in 2018 when the first edition of the Future of Fashion conferences took place focusing on topics such as smart and ethical fashion.

“I want to ignite conversations and debates within the industry by educating, elevating and drawing connections between our most important values; our respect for human life, animal rights, and the environment’’ – Emmanuelle Rienda.

Activism

As you may have already guessed, vegan fashion is also about taking action to spread its values and change the world we live in. A private fundraiser will close LA vegan fashion week to support the emerging of cruelty free alternatives as well as Rienda’s wish of opening a sanctuary for animals directly impacted by the fashion industry.

Fashion labels on show

Although the official runaway line-up is to be announced on January 21st, some of the names who will be showcasing at LA Vegan Fashion Week have already been disclosed here’s a taste of them:

Enda

Based in NY and founded in 2015 by Japanese designer Ran Enda who had developed her own vision of veganism as she went on a journey herself into learning it. Her design aesthetic expressed in clean cuts and easy colour palette matches the ethical commitment to cruelty-free practices and highest quality.

Arsayo

As a French family company founded in 2016 by Michel Ohayon, Arsayo started out with a backpack which incorporated an urban city as well practicality and all that Parisian touch: the backpack also won the double gold medal at the Concours Lèpine for the patented secure closure.

MINK shoes

Founder Rebecca Mink, a lifelong animal advocate, wanted to create high-end vegan shoes as she spotted a gap in the market for it. Sustainable production and a choice of non-leather performance materials are her signature, from Italy.
